ABOUT

The Willow Cakery, formally known as The Cake-Hole, was established in 2009. Amanda started, as most cake designers do, making cakes for her children. When they were teenagers, this turned into more after making her sisters wedding cake. Shortly after, her husband built her first Cake Room, a 2x2 meter room in the centre of her house, and this is how she got her name, from it being a little cake hole in her house. Amanda also took part in markets at the local school with cupcakes and tray bakes, and word soon spread about how delicious and amazing her cakes were!

Amanda made her first move to a premises in 2012, after years of baking and building up an amazing customer base, she simply outgrew her little room at home. At Gurney Mews in Camborne, she made and decorated the cakes, as well as having a shop for cake supplies and equipment after she noticed a gap in the market. She traded here until 2014, when she made the move to Wilson Way in Pool, as she needed a much bigger kitchen, work area and shop. People loved coming into the shop to get Amandas advice, as well as buying the supplies they needed to make their own cakes. In 2019, Amanda made the very hard decision of closing the shop, and moving back to working from home, in a garage that she converted into a wonderful cake studio! Here, the decision was made, to update the business name, after feeling she had outgrown The Cake-Hole after 13 years of trading. The Willow Cakery is named after Amandas first born Grandaughter, Willow.

During covid times, like others Amanda wasnt able to work, but she did perfect making sugar roses! Once things started up again, it was time to play catch up with all of the rescheduled weddings. Now, in 2023, Amanda has made the decision to not continue making birthday cakes, and to just focus on Weddings. This decision didnt come easy, after 14 years of making cakes for some of her most loyal customers!
